 Services

Whatever their individual circumstances, more than 200 people seeking shelter come through the doors of Beach House each year. Over 35% are young children. Beach House provides temporary, emergency shelter to assist homeless women and families. The shelter is always open and is staffed around-the-clock, 365 days per year.

Beach House provides clients with a healthy, secure environment and an opportunity to:

  • find permanent housing
  • learn basic living skills
  • participate in recovery programs
  • atttend in-house and off-site support meetings
  • enjoy a variety of programming activities designed to build self-esteem
  • locate assistance through a variety of outside agency contacts
  • gain support from staff and fellow clients
  • take the steps necessary to ensure a successful re-entry into independent family living. 

Beach House Family Shelter provides emergency housing to a maximum of 30 people at a time in a homelike environment with:

  • 22 beds, 2 junior beds, and 6 cribs
  • six bedrooms on the second floor
  • one bedroom for disabled clients on the first floor
  • handicapped accessible facilities and entrance on the first floor
  • three bathrooms for client use
  • large living room for socializing, viewing television, and a play area for children
  • meeting area for group meetings
  • large dining room for family-style meals
  • kitchen equiped with commercial range, refrigerator, freezers, dishwasher, and microwave oven

All meals are prepared and served by the support staff.
